Sloth

A mammal of the order Pilosa, sloths are three toed mammals that live in the rainforests of Central and South America. They belong to one of two families: the two toed Megalonychidae family and the three toed Bradypodidae family. The two toed means two fingers as all families of sloth have three toes.

These tree dwellers live on leaves and spend a large portion of their time sleeping. Omnivores by nature, sloths like to eat insects, reptiles and small birds but because of their tree dwelling habit spend most of their time eating shoots and leaves.  Many earlier species of sloth have become extinct and deforestation threatens the habits of the living species.
