Mouse

Mice belong to the order Rodentia and the genus Mus. The mouse is a small mammals of the rodent family and comes in a variety of species with the most common being the field mouse, the brown mouse and the house mouse (Mus musculus).Mice are found all over the world and are often eaten by birds and felines.

Mice have relatively short live spans living for just four months (on average) in the wild and less than three years in captivity. Despite short life spans and multiple predators, mice are one of the most successful animals on the planet.

Most mice are nocturnal and have bad eyesight and sharp hearing and smelling abilities. They move inside to shelter from weather and predators as well as to find sleeping quarters and food. Mice are scavengers that will eat a variety of things including wood, paper and cheese. They are considered pests by some and pets by others.

Reproduction is a major pastime among mice species who breed year round and have short pregnancies; on average 20 days in length. The average litter includes a dozen offspring.
